Here at Robyn Davie Creative we offer two different sets of options when it comes to getting photographs taken of yourself for your portfolio, online profiles or marketing & advertising needs, either head shots or personal branding sessions.
Here's how we outline the difference between the two:
First up, head shots:
Head shots are purely just photos of your head and shoulders. They make great profile pics for CVs, LinkedIn accounts and creative/corporate portfolios.
Our aim here is to draw the viewer in with an engaging, warm image.
As you can see in the above examples, the images tend to be framed around the head and shoulders, and cut off mid-chest.
These images can include a mix of more casual and more corporate wardrobe options, depending on which package is selected.
We have a heap of great tips for your head shot session (what to wear, how to get your skin looking fresh and photo-worthy, the best times of day to shoot etc etc) - just follow this link for more.
Robyn first started shooting head shots in Los Angeles in 2013 & 2014 - where she learnt a lot about what makes a great head shot! She's since passed those tips and tricks onto her photographic team, and now the whole associate team are all shooting fab head shots for the Robyn Davie Photography brand.

And then, personal branding sessions:
Personal branding sessions are like the big sister of head shots - they're more involved, and offer the client a lot more in terms of the end product.
During the process of booking a personal branding session with us, we'll ask you a heap of questions about your brand so that we can work out the best way to tell your story and where to document it.
With a personal branding session, you will get a mix of:
- head shots
- mid-length shots
- full-length shots
We'll chat about the right location for your shoot, for example if you're a chef let's do your session in a fresh and bright kitchen, surrounded by delicious food.
If you're a wellness coach, let's surround you with healthy snacks and represent your active, outdoor lifestyle (such as below):
If you're a blogger or instagrammer, let's aim for a nice variety of images - each of which tells a great story, easy to caption and post online.
These sessions allow for a lot more flexibility than a standard head shot session.
We'll chat to you during your booking process about the right setting, props and wardrobe for your personal branding session - ideally it should be true to you and your brand.
Have a look at this album and this album for more examples of our personal branding sessions.
And follow this link for tons of tips on how to get the most out of your personal branding session.
So, head shots are purely photos of your head and shoulders. They're quick and fun sessions, designed to provide you with a nice selection of images for use as profile pictures.
Personal branding sessions include head shots, mid-length and full-length pictures. They're designed to tell a story, and allow a lot more flexibility.
Please send us an email on hello@robyndavie.com to chat more about the options and schedule in your session.
